- Created and oversaw an ESL-student written and edited newsletter, ESL Student Life, give ESL students a place for creative expression and practice with writing for an audience.
- Developed an ESL Little Free Library and book review materials for OCC ESL-student use.
- Designed and facilitated tutor training workshops to bridge a grammar knowledge gap between ESL instructors and ESL tutors.
- Customized student seminars in grammar and test-taking for the ESL population which increased their chances of passing exit and placement exams as the ESL Resources Coordinator.
- Incorporated micro-learning and internet-related activities, film, communicative group work based on multiple intelligence theory, and invited guest speakers into skill-related and thematic lessons in writing, listening, speaking, reading, and grammar classes to successfully pass over 95% of my students into the next program level or higher.
- Launched and maintained the ESL department website for easy student access to essential course and college information.
- Administered and rated SPEAK tests for students in conversation classes to determine their placement.
- Advised students on how to improve their writing, reading, speaking, and listening of English as a Level 1 College Reading and Language Association (CRLA) tutor in OCC’s Academic Support Center.
- Facilitated the instruction of various ESL courses in the areas of reading, speaking, pronunciation, writing, grammar, and listening.
- Coordinated with the Royal Oak/Southfield ESL staff to make our campus programs in sync with other OCC campuses.
- Administered end-of-semester placement tests to determine future student placement.
